Sydney Harpley R.A, born 1927 Lady on gate Bronze, variegated green patination 170cm.; 67ins high by 210cm.; 82½ins wide Sydney Harpley was born in Fulham and studied at the Hammersmith School of Art (1950-3), and the Royal College of Art (1953-6) under John Skeaping. Elected ARCA (1956), FRBS (1963), ARA (1974) and RA (1981). A regular exhibitor at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Academy from 1954. Solo shows abroad and at the Chris Beetles Gallery, London 1987 and 1990. He died in 1992.
