Provenance: By descent from Sir Timothy Calvert Eden.
Sir Timothy Calvert Eden, brother of Sir Anthony Eden was amongst 4,000-5,000 civilian prisoners housed at The Ruhleben P.O.W. camp outside Berlin during WW1. The artist Stanley Grimm was a contemporary and both men collaborated with Douglas Sladen in his 1917 memoirs 'In Ruhleben, Letters from a Prisoner (to his mother)'.
