His monumental work of 1933, Pulaski at Savannah, depicting the last battle of a Polish military hero, is on permanent displayed at the Polish Museum in Chicago. Batowski-Kaczor was inspired by historical novelists such as Henryk Sienkiewicz. The Cossack kobza-player in the present lot is a kind of wandering minstrel familiar from Polish literature.
