Seated on an impressive throne in the centre of the composition, holding his Book and bringing his hand to his mouth as a sign of his silence, his Apocalyptic personification, the Eagle, next to him, surrounded by incidents of his life and his young disciple on the island of Patmos, an image of Christ in blessing on the upper border, four family saints under ogee arches flanking the image, the silver oklad with repoussé decoration 12¼ x 10½ in. (31.1 x 26.7 cm)
