SPENCER GORE (1878-1914); oil on canvas ''Trees at Kew Gardens'', 43 x 33cm, framed. Provenance: purchased from the Tib Lane Gallery 18th June 1973, formerly from the collection of W.R. Sickert, R.E.A. Wilson, Carlos Peacock, and Ewan Phillips. There are several labels verso including one written by Ewan Phillips dated 11th April 1972 which reads as follows ''Frederick Gore, son of Spencer Gore, examined this painting in my presence on 10th April 1972 and states that it is undoubtedly by his father. He often left his pictures unsigned, especially when he gave them to friends.'' A copy of the Tib Lane Gallery Receipt dated 18th June 1973 accompanies this lot.
