Notes

The colour scheme that Song Yonghong uses in his Bathing
series is simple and is composed of three main colours - the
background, figure, and water stream. The background is
painted plain to bring out the main character. The characters
are basically changed in one tone to maintain the overall
consistency. In a large area of single colour of background
and character, only the stream that is painted
exquisitely emphasized. Bathing expresses another feeling
of existence and joy. It became the supplement to the previous,
externally abreacting; or the later, internally selfentertaining,
which are the two sides of contemporary
spirit.
Song has moved and grown freely in the past time, while
consistently maintaining a tone of muted surrealism that
hovers somewhere between the ironic and the macabre.
In this sale, we present two executed works, which represents
the high-tide in the artist''s career.
