18th century
Kakejiku, in ink on paper, depicting the 11th century Chinese poet Su Shi (1036-1101) with his back to the viewer, rendered in the genpitsu (abbreviated brush drawing) technique, standing beneath snow-laden bamboo, wearing a large hat and holding a stick, the end of which is suspended with a fan, signed Shohaku ga with seal Kiitsu; with wood storage box. 103.2cm x 50.5cm (40 5/8in x 19 7/8in).
