Oil/Canvas. Signed lower left. Sight Size: 25 x 20 inches. William Leon Stacks (1928-1991) was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1928. In 1943 when he was 15 years old, he became the youngest member ever elected to the Rockport Art Association*, Rockport, Massachusetts. Stacks professional memberships include the Rockport Art Association, Allied Artists of America*, NY, American Artist's Professional League*, NY, Salmagundi Club*, National Art Club*, NY, and the North Carolina Arts Association. His work is in the following collections: New York Museum, Albany, NY; South Carolina Museum of Art, Columbia, SC; Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences, Savannah, GA; The Mariners Museum, Norfolk, VA; Greenville Art Center, Greenville, NC; and St. John's (now the Cameron) Museum of Art, Wilmington, NC
