Note:This work relates to another larger full-length portrait of Mrs. Dominick Edward Blake painted in 1896, probably close to the same time as this head and shoulders view, held in the collection of the Library and Archives Canada, Mikan no. 3025715. Margaret Cronyn, daughter of Benjamin Cronyn, the first Bishop of the Anglican diocese of Huron County, Ontario, was the wife of lawyer and politician, Dominick Edward Blake, the foremost authority on the Canadian constitution and Prime Minister of Canada from 1871-1872. Grier's portrait of The Honourable Dominck Edward Blake (1833- 1912) is also held in the collection of Library and Archives Canada.
