Literature

"The Grand Finale of the Art of Celebration"!! (ca.1850s-present) McNulty's framed pieces juxtapose myriad labels from Independence Day playthings: sleek black cats bear their fang-like teeth fiercely;delicate birds swoop about beneath cascades of emblazoned embers;dragons spit fire, rockets soar and parachutes rain down from a translucent rice paper sky." Zan Dubin, LA Times July 3, 1985. James has managed to appropriate, (choreograph & display),the entire graphic history (ca.1860-present) of firework & firecracker art, (wrappers & labels), in an unprecedented collage format. These remanents of former celebrations ,(printed in 10 different languages),have littered the grounds, after special occaisions, around the globe, for the last 150 years! James' love of the Art inspired him to imagine a unique (layout) interpretation of wrappers & labels, stamps & envelopes..et.al. James is an active member of the Pyrotechnics Guild International,Western Pyrotechnic Association & certified pyrotechnician. He has exhibitited at UCLA,the Pacific Asia Museum, the Chinese Cultural Foundation , the Santa Monica Museum of Art. & the Minna Gallery. "This Presentation is an authentic, World Class Firework Display in the realm of Fine Art. "Originating from many centuries past, to the present, humanity continues its Celebration rituals with lavish displays of color and noise. Every one of my creations documents the illustrious and colorful history of Fireworks/Firecracker Art. James has also expanded the concept of firework art display imagery to include the areas of painting, fashion, and performance art. I recently had a short film made about me which feature my works and an interview with me. You can view the film by clicking on the link below: http://www.pyroart.net/
