Notes

“Vitaly Dlugy transforms reality into a symbol of philosophic existence, a totem. His totemic system of the world is hierarchic, ranging from the earthy-practical to the celestial-absolute. In his works, each object is transformed into a certain sign: its totemic reflection that carries a memory of the object and of its spiritual essence. Each object in Dlugy’s paintings carries an energy charge that moves the viewer to a spiritual analysis.            Dlugy’s artistic contemplations are very textural, and the texture of his works underscores both the expressiveness of movement and the visuality and corporeality of the artist’s objects. In this, one could trace traditions of Dubuffet, even if there is a Pop Art illustrativeness interpreted by the artist as philosophical contemplation.” (Alexandre Gertsman)
