Lot 63: Shamrock , Rose and Thistle

R.S. Moseley (British, fl. 1862-1893) Shamrock , Rose and Thistle signed and dated 'R.S. Moseley. 1884' (lower right) and further signed and inscribed '"Rose", "Shamrock" & "Thistle",/By R.S. Moseley./Heathland Lodge/Hampstead/London/NW' (on the reverse, prior to relining) oil on canvas 12 1/8 x 17 7/8 in. (31.1 x 45.4 cm.)

It has been suggested that these are from left to right an Irish Terrier, an early smooth-haired English Fox Terrier and a Scottish Cairn Terrier and their names are the respective national symbols: Shamrock, Rose and Thistle.
