The Tenth, The Prince of Wales' Own Royal Regiment of Hussars, evolved from The Tenth Regiment of Dragoons which saw action in the Seven Years War and the Second Jacobite Rebellion. George III appointed his son, the Prince of Wales, the commander in chief of the regiment in 1784 and in 1806 he received permission to fit out the regiment as hussars and they became the first hussar regiment in the British Army.
Robert Wigström died in Cape Town on the way home to England from India, where the regiment were based in the 1840s.
