[w.d.] [1660?].

Famous series of engravings representing the "Life of St. Bruno," executed in the cloister of the Chartreux of Paris by Eustache Le Sueur.

Eustache Le Sueur or Lesueur (19 November 1617 - 30 April 1655), one of the founders of the French Academy of Painting, was born in Paris, where he passed his whole life.

Bruno of Cologne (c. 1030 - 6 October 1101), the founder of the Carthusian Order. He was a celebrated teacher at Reims, and a close advisor of his former pupil, Pope Urban II. Since the Carthusian Order maintains a strict observance of humility, Saint Bruno was never formally canonized, but in the year 1623 Pope Gregory XV included him in the General Roman Calendar for celebration on 6 October.
