Provenance: Property from the collection of Art D’Egypte One could be forgiven, at a glance for mistaking Said Badr’s History Guards as a normal fixture of an ancient Egyptian gallery. Yet, while reminiscent of museum arrangements, such as so many in the Egyptian Museum, Badr’s works are reformed under the influence of a more contemporary and abstract character. Informed but not overpowered by the weight of history, these imposing ‘Guards’, now as eternal as the ancient monuments themselves, stand with a new task of protecting a wider human history of all cultures.
