Much of Tirafkan's work is concerned with male identity. The figures are usually clothed, with various attributes or in locations of particular significance to Iranians. In this series, Body Curves, the body is stripped but clothed again in calligraphy, which wraps about their bodies. Thus Tirakan unites the curvatures of Persian calligraphy with that of a human body. Tirafkan made 60 in total. Of these, this is the only Tirafkan made of himself as the subject. Body Curves was the only series in which Tirafkan made one of each image, with different calligraphic motifs on each.
