Description

RUDOLPH EVANS (AMERICAN 1878 - ) A MARBLE FIGURE OF GEORGE WASHINGTON 20TH CENTURY signed R. Evans. height 5 ft. (1.52m.) Rudolph Evans was born in Washington, D. C. in 1878. He studied at the Corcoran Art Gallery in Washington, the Art Student's League in New York and the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris under Falguiere and Rodin. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Francais in 1914, winning a third class medal, and he won the Watrous gold medal of the national Academy of Design in 1919. He is known for his statues of famous public figures and for busts of his contemporaries.
