1044. JOSEPH ROSENTHAL American press photographer who covered the Pacific during World War II, took the famous photograph of Marines hoisting the flag on Iwo Jima. S.P., 8" x 10" b/w showing Rosenthal's famous image of Marines raising the flag on Mt. Suribachi, signed in the left margin adding: "Mt. Suribachi Iwo Jima Feb. 23, 1945". A collector has also added four postage stamps (three cancelled), commemorating F.D.R., the Medal of Honor, the flag raising and photography. Simply framed. $100-150
