Robert Preusser is Texas's most important early modernist painter. While much of his work is non-objective, this painting is based on an abstracted landscape. The horizon line and red flowing sky can be made out in the upper one-third of the painting.

This canvas has a rich surface with heavy impasto and areas of colored sand mixed with the paint.

Excellent condition. Period frame in excellent condition.
