Hand-coloured engraved wall map on 4 sheets joined, overall 1035 x 1225mm, laid down on linen and mounted on modern wooden rollers. Title in elaborate landscape cartouche lower right, inset map lower right titled The Supplement to North America containing the Countries adjoining to Baffins and Hudsons Bays, with inset key above listing the European possessions in America, scale-bars, yellow border. (Some small surface abrasions or neat repairs, trimmed to platemark). Laurie and Whittle's grand wall map of the Americas, a reissue of Sayer's map published in August 1786. Sayer used d'Anville's maps of America as his principal source, 'with the addition of the Spanish discoveries in 1775 to the North of California and corrected in the several parts belonging to Great Britain, from the original materials by Governor Pownal'.
