Notes

The first church to be built on the current site of SS. Giovanni e Paolo dated from the 4th Century A.D. and was dedicated to the Saints John and Paul who were martyred for violating the edicts of the Emperor Julian the Apostate.

The church was pillaged and vandalized by the Normans in 1084 but was restored again during the 11th and 12th Centuries and eventually redesigned to its present Baroque style in 1715-18 by the architects Antonio Canevari (1681-c.1750) and Andrea Garagni (b.1724). The church and gardens are situated on the Caelian Hill, overlooking Rome.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
This lot is subject to storage and collection charges.
