Notes

The entrance to Rome known as Porta Maggiore is located at one of the highest points in Rome. It was built by the Emperor Claudius (10 B.C.- 54 A.D.), more than two centuries before the Aurelian Walls, to support the network of Rome's aqueducts. Porta Maggiore was incorporated into the Aurelian Walls, becoming one of Rome's protected gateways. It was named Porta Maggiore because it was on the pilgrims' road to Santa Maria Maggiore.

No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium, which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis.
This lot is subject to storage and collection charges.
