Provenance: c. 1979-83 Gemäldegalerie David Koetser, Zurich; Austrian private collection Jan G. Sonje was a Dutch landscapist. His paintings show an Italian influence and are bathed in a warm, southern light. He was a student of Adam Pynacker and his art had a lot in common with his teacher, as well as with that of Nicolaes Berchem.
