Richard Garbe: A bronze figure of a man standing above a mermaid signed Richard Garbe, and dated 1929 weathered green patination 86cm., 34ins high on siena marble pedestal (not shown) 150cm.; 59ins high overall Richard Garbe (1876-1957) was elected ARA in 1929 and appointed professor of sculpture and full member of the Royal Academy in 1936, his work is well represented in the Tate and many other major collections, with other statues in London and Cardiff.
