RICHARD BOWMAN OIL ON CANVAS ENVIRONS: Richard Irving Bowman (1918 - 2001, America), oil and florescent oil painting on canvas, signed on face and signed, titled, dated (1961) and priced on stretcher. titled, "Environs" signed and dated and titled on stretcher, Canvas: 28"h x 22"w, Framed: 34.5"h x 28.5"w. BIOGRAPHY: Richard Irving Bowman (1918–2001, America) was an abstract painter who worked primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. He painted in an idiosyncratic style inspired by transcendental visions of nature, exposure to surrealism and investigations into sub-atomic physics. He is considered one of the first fine artists to employ fluorescent paint, which he maintained embodied sub-atomic life energy, beginning in the early 1950s. Bowman was the subject of one-person shows at the Pinacotecha Gallery, New York (1947), The Stanford Art Gallery, Palo Alto, CA (1950,56) and the San Francisco Museum of Art, San Francisco, CA (1961,1970). He exhibited at the Rose Rabow Gallery in San Francisco 1959-1977, and was associated with expatriate painters Gordon Onslow-Ford and other artists who coalesced around the space. He was a peripheral figure in the San Francisco Bay Area beat and abstract expressionist scene. Bio excerpts taken from:

PROVENANCE: From the mass international collection of the living estate of a former Executive for Levi Strauss International, who traveled the world for the firm buying and shipping denim before retirement and as a Broker of Real Estate in San Francisco, Maine and Florida. He received a B.A. from the University of Omaha, and remains a lead Donor of their Alumni Association today; he earned his Master's Degree at Ohio State where he served on the Dean's Staff. He was a Vice-President, 3-term President and served on the Board of Directors for the Lee Memorial Auxiliary. He was a Director on the Board for the Fort Myers Community Concert Association and Sponsor of Southwest Florida Symphony. He is also the Benefactor of Healthcare Educational and Endowment Grants - with a specific generosity for patients of HIV/AIDS, healthcare workers and takes time to volunteer for the sick and under-privileged.

PAYMENT
Payment must be paid in full before property is released. After the auction bidders will receive an invoice via email detailing winning lots and charges at which time payment is due. Payment accepted includes: Check, Cash, Visa, Amex, Disc, MasterCard and Paypal. The invoice will have a live link to PayPal. Checks will need to clear before EMWAA will release the property. In cases of non-payment, the Auctioneer's right to void the sale does not relieve the bidder from their obligation to pay both seller's and buyer's premium and any damages incurred from loss of sale. Paid items left beyond 45 days become gallery property and will be sold.

BUYER'S PREMIUM
A 23% Buyer's premium will be in affect, in addition to the hammer or purchase price. All bidders will be subject to a 7% Florida State sales tax unless they have a have a valid Florida State Resale Certificate on file with E. M. Wallace Auctions prior to bidding.

SHIPPING

Zip N Ship can accommodate USPS, FedEx and UPS. Should lots be purchased and needed in haste, the purchaser will need to communicate that with Zip N Ship.
