Description

DESCRIPTION: Raymond Bigot (French, 1872-1953). Ink, charcoal, and pencil. Depicts a mother cat nursing kittens. Signed in pencil at lower left corner "R. Bigot". Hinged at top, under plastic sheet, under cream matting. Raymond Bigot was born near Orbec, France in 1872. The brother of famed architect Paul Bigot, Raymond was renowned for his animal sculptures and watercolors. He collaborated with his brother on the War Memorial in Caen. He died in 1953. MEASUREMENTS: Image 8" x 10". Overall with matting 14" x 18". CONDITION: Light toning and marks to paper from rubbing of charcoal. Light pencil marks from underdrawing. Rough edge on left side of paper, not visible under matting. Light wear to matting.
