Collection of Christopher Gowing

Christopher Gowing studied PPE at Oxford. He became interested in studio ceramics whilst curator of two museums in Hampshire in the 1950s and as curator of Buckinghamshire County Museum (1960-1988) he built up one of the most comprehensive collections of British studio ceramics in the country. Together with Paul Rice he wrote British Studio Ceramics in the 20th Century (1989).
