Description

RABAS Vaclav (13. 11. 1885 Krusovice - 26. 10. 1954 Prague) Study of female figures Watercolour on paper, 21 x 15 cm, 11,5 x 7 cm, in one mount, glazed, undated [1917], unsigned, probate stamp on the reverse. Czech painter and graphic artist, he studied under B. Roubalik, V. Bukovac, H. Schwaiger and M. Svabinsky at the Academy of Arts in Prague, he was a founding member of SCGU Hollar. He is known for his monumentally conceived landscapes, mainly depicting the countryside around his native town Krusovice. See T 2/338, TD 154, V 4/5, TB 27/536, B 8/564, NECVU 2/666.
