note:

Mademoiselle R.M. Guillaume was best-known for her portraits and nudes. She was a student of William Adolphe Bouguereau, Jules-Joseph Lefebvre and Tony Robert-Fleury. Between the years 1893-1924 she exhibited regularly in the Salon de la Societe des Artistes Francais and won a gold medal in 1923. She also showed in the Amsterdam International Art Exposition of 1912.
It is suggested that the figures in this painting may be rehearsing for the revue, 'Alhambra' which is depicted in the poster hanging on the wall.

Condition Report

Oil on canvas, wax lined to a fabric support. The lining appears to be in good condition. There are a few isolated areas of salient/mechanical abrasion, particularly in the passages of brown paint.
