With a proclivity to mine the distant past for themes and motifs, Qiu Xiaofei creates images that are nostalgic and reminiscent of times already forgotten. Derived from an old photograph, this work appropriates even the vestiges of weathering-- blotches of creases are conveyed through the artists' masterful treatment of the canvas.
