Notes

In 1996 Roi Kuper paired up with Gilad Ophir and created the series Necropolis (meaning "City of the Dead"). Insistently working to create direct, unmanipulated photographic images, Kuper aimed his camera at active and abandoned structures and military bases which have become quasi-archeological monuments of Israeli history, damaging the environment and leaving in their wake decay and ruins.

8 images from the Necropolis Project are in the collection of the Tate Modern, London
