CATALOGUE NOTE

The Fairy Queen manuscript seems to be related to Heptinstall's 1692 publication "Some Select Songs As they are Sung in the Fairy Queen" (Day and Murrie 116). The numbers are: [no.1] "Sing, sing whilst we trip it upon the green"; [no.2] "I am come to lock all fast"; [no.3] "One charming night"; [no.4] "If love's a sweet passion"; [no.5] "Thus the ever grateful Spring"; [no.6] "Here's the summer sprightly gay" and [no.7] "Thus happy and free". We have not traced the present printed title-page to any published edition.
