Suja leaves a measure of representational content in his works, albeit with minimal figures and colour. His talent lies in his use of colour - bold, striking and anything but random. Picking the right colour is as important as deciding the subject matter and layout, as he tends to limit his canvas to a select few. Suja also uses signs with connotative meanings, like the newspaper in the present lot, and he balances this with the deliberate distortion of forms, the wide stretched pink figure.
