PROPERTY FROM THE DECEDENTS OF THE ARTIST RALPH D. MCLELLAN (American, 1884-1977) Farmer in Field Oil on artist's board 18 x 24 inches (45.7 x 61.0 cm) Signed lower right: R. McLellan Ralph McLellan, a native of San Marcos, studied with José Arpa y Parea, the Art Students League of New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Later in his career, he taught at the Pennsylvania Museum of Fine Arts and the Philadelphia School of Industrial Arts. Best known for his portraits and more traditional paintings, Farmer and Field is a rare example of his work in the Regionalist style of the 1930s. This painting comes to us from a descendent of the artist.
