PROCHAZKA Jaro (22. 4. 1886Prague - 1949) Kampa in winter Oil on cardboard, 48 x 70 cm, framed, glazed, undated, signed lower right. Czech painter and graphic artist, he studied under professor Jakesch at the Academy of Decorative Arts in Prague and then at the Academy of Arts. He had to interrupt his studies during World War I and became an army painter. He is known for his townscapes and paintings depicting city life, in 1931 he was awarded the prize of the Academy of Arts for his series of paintings depicting European towns. See T 2/317, V 3/628.
