Description

Broadside, 37 lines. 12 1/4 x7 3/4.

Significant broadside naming commissioners to go to California "to establish the administration and offices of the treasury and to systemize the collection and distribution of the public funds in the way best suited to the particular circumstances of those territories." One of the interesting features is the "Sello Terceo" paper on which the broadsides is printed, with two stamped seals on the reverse, one of the Spanish authorities, which has been crossed out, and one of the new Republica Mexicana, with emblem featuring an eagle with a serpent in its beak. Old ink docketing "C. no. 44" at top of recto.
