"On the matter of influence, Prince is clear. No other artist sets a model for him, though he is open, wide open, to the influences that rise up from his tradition, the tradition of the Yoruba people, and to the influences that flow through him as he moves attentively among the wonders of God's creation. Amid these crosscurrents of inspiration, the only artist upon whose work he builds is the one called Twins Seven-Seven."
