A dramatic view, seen from under the fuselage of an aircraft, of passengers on the tarmac boarding an American Airlines plane. Pictured are two Lockheed L-188s, the Electras. The Electras were America's first turboprop airplanes that were capable of speeds almost a hundred miles an hour faster than the piston-powered aircraft of the early 1950s. By the mid 1970s most of the Electra's had been retired from service. Walter Bomar was a prolific graphic artist, illustrator, poster designer and painter.
