"Abbott was a longtime illustrator for Hart Shaffner & Marx, often letting his work go unsigned" (Americanartarchives.com). His elaborately realistic illustrations often graced the cover of the Saturday Evening Post, Woman's Home Companion and Ladies' Home Journal. His style can be compared with that of the great American illustrator J. C. Leyendecker, whose impossibly handsome and wholesome Arrow Collar Man entered into the national imagination and became an advertising icon. This poster was referred to by Hart Schaffner & Marx as "The Circus Rider."
