PORTRAIT RELIEF OF GEORGE WASHINGTON Charles Calverley (American 1833-1914), the white metal relief inscribed, 'From Houdon's Bust By C. Calverley, Sc. 1877 Copright 1877 By W.S. Barlow N.Y. The bust from which I modelled this medallion has carved upon it the following inscription C. Calverley Sc. This bust is from the living face of Wash. by Houdon Oct. 1785. Permission was granted to Clark Mills in 1849 by Col. Wash. at Mt. Vernon to take a copy of the original Bust in Bronze. Clark Mills Sc.' Within an ebonized, parcel-gilted wood frame - 21 x 17 in.
