PORTRAIT OF THE AMERICAN ARTIST MATHER BROWN. BRITISH SCHOOL, CIRCA 1790. Mather Brown (1761-1831) was born in Boston, a descendent of the Puritans Cotton and Increase Mather. He studied under Gilbert Stuart and later traveled to England where he worked in Benjamin West's studio in London. Oil on canvas, 30 x 20 inches.
