Notes

Victor "Vicky" Weisz (1913-1966) was born in Berlin to Hungarian jews. In 1938 he emigrated to England where he established himself alongside David Low as the most celebrated caricaturist and cartoonist of his age. The cartoons in this lot all relate to a failed attempt to establish a Lib-Lab pact during the 1960s, encouraged by Woodrow Wyatt (depicted in the stocks, on a rocking horse, in his "Tote" outfit). Other figures include Prime Minister Harold Wilson, George Brown, Ray Gunter and Alastair Hetherington.
