Description

15 1/4 x9x1 1/2 ". With a green velvet backing board. Depicts Susan B. Anthony in profile from the waist up, with hands touching and a meditative gaze. Anthony died in 1906. When this piece was made, states were slowly granting women suffrage, but the 19th amendment would not become law until 1920. Emily Travis (1872-1915) was a San Francisco artist primarily known for her painting (see Hughes, Artists in California).
