Prince Alexander Fedorovich Golitzin, as the eldest son, was allowed by Imperial decree to add the name Prozorovskii, the name of his mother, to his, as she was the daughter of the Colonel in the Imperial Regiment. Golitzin became the Commander of the Guard Horse Grenadier regiment and married Maria Alexandrovna L'vova in 1848.
