Lot 30: PIETRO FACCINI (Bologna 1575/6-1602)

The Holy Family oil on panel 93/4 x 8 in. (24.8 x 20.2 cm.) with inventory no. '268' on the reverse NOTES The present lot has been recently identified as the work of the Bolognese artist Pietro Faccini and is to be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonn‚ of works by the artist being prepared by Dott. Mario di Giampaolo. The composition is known through engravings based on it by Guido Reni (fig. 1; see also The Illustrated Bartsch, XL, pp. 157-159, nos. 9-11, with no. 10 most closely related to the present work).
