The Madonna and Child black chalk, grey wash 158 x 122 mm. PROVENANCE An unidentified armorial collector's mark. Anonymous sale; Christie's, London, 7 July 1992, lot 165 (to Dreesmann). Dr Anton C.R. Dreesmann (inventory no. B-139). NOTES This attribution has kindly been confirmed by Mario di Giampaolo. Comparable in technique to a drawing presented to the British Museum by Sir Denis Mahon (1986-6-21-4).
