Lot 23: Pietro Faccini (Bologna 1562-1602)

The two Elders conversing, Susannah in the background entering the bath pen and brown ink, brown wash on light brown prepared paper, right corners made up 12 x 8 3/8 in. (306 x 216 mm.) NOTES The attribution to Pietro Faccini was confirmed by Mario di Giampaolo on the basis of a photograph. The handling of this sheet, particularly in the foreground, is close to that of two of drawings depicting the Magdalen in Budapest and Hamburg (A. Cz‚re, Disegni di artisti bolognese nel Museo delle Belle Arti di Budapest, Bologna, 1989, no. 25 and illustrated p. 58).
