Lot 3: Pieter Brueghel II (Antwerp 1589-1638/9) and Studio

F533, as Studio of Pieter Brughel II. NOTES This is one of a number of versions of the composition produced by Pieter Breughel II and his studio between circa 1615 and 1630. Ertz ( loc. cit. ) opines that on the basis of the illustration in Marlier, the present picture is the product of the workshop of Pieter Breughel II. He rejects outright Marlier's earlier ascription to Pieter III. Another version of the same size by Pieter Brueghel II was sold in these Rooms, 13 December 2000, lot 18 (œ124,750).
