Exceptionnelle et importante potence décorative, d'inspiration néo-gothique, figurant un dragon ailé à l'évocation d'une gargouille.
L'animal, en ronde-bosse, est exécuté entièrement en fer travaillé et ouvragé à la forge, le corps et la tête d'un seul tenant, les ailes, les pattes, les oreilles et la crête fixées en rivetage.
L'équerre de potence, également réalisée en métal forgé et cintré, présente un décor, de volutes et de lierre en feuilles, assemblé au moyen de vis et de rivets.
Seconde moitié du XIXème siècle.

Pierre BOULANGER, Émile ROBERT, Raymond SUBES ou l'Histoire de l'Art du travail du métal du XIXe au XXe siècle Pierre Boulanger naît à Paris dans une famille de serruriers, au sein de laquelle il se forme naturellement au travail de la forge.
Il s'installe à son propre compte en 1840 effectuant principalement des travaux de restauration.
Sa très grande habileté est rapidement remarquée : en 1845 l'architecte Lassus lui confie la réalisation des pentures du portail de l'église Saint-Séverin à Paris.
La qualité de son travail est telle qu'il devient le " serrurier des diocésains ".
Dès lors les commandes de grilles et autres travaux de ferronnerie affluent : basilique de Vézelay, cathédrale de Troyes, églises de Châlons-sur-Marne, Saint-Paul de Nîmes, Saint-Gilles du Gard, mais également au profit d'édifices civils comme l'Hôtel du Timbre ou le Musée du Louvre, pour lequel il restaure le garde-corps du balcon dit de Charles IX.
En 1862 il reçoit la commande des trente-deux panneaux de la grille du chœur de la cathédrale de Bourges, dont il ne réalisera que le premier panneau, confiant le reste du chantier à Ernest Larchevêque, un serrurier berrichon qui aura plus tard pour apprenti un certain Émile Robert.
Absent du chantier de Bourges, ce n'est que pour mieux se consacrer à une autre commande : la réalisation des pentures du portail principal et la restauration des portails latéraux de Notre-Dame de Paris, sous la direction de Viollet-le-Duc qui lui vouait une grande estime et une réelle admiration.
Ce chantier l'occupera de 1859 à 1867.
Ses travaux réalisés pour Notre-Dame ne cesseront de forcer l'admiration et d'influencer les ferronniers d'art du XXe siècle, tout particulièrement Émile Robert, véritable figure tutélaire du renouveau de l'Art du métal, dès les années 1890/1900, mais aussi Raymond Subes qui dans son ouvrage de 1961 consacré à Boulanger écrit en collaboration avec Georges Roty le petit-fils de l'artiste " …Pour la porte centrale, Boulanger déploya toute sa science, multipliant les ornements au point de donner à son travail un effet de relief assez important alors que les fers anciens restent assez proches du plan de la porte.
Le nombre de pièces étampées qui ont été utilisées pour la confection d'une seule penture confond l'imagination ; pour la penture centrale, la plus importante, il dépasse sûrement les deux mille.
Émile Robert étudiant la technique de réalisation d'un bouquet qui termine l'une des branches n'y dénombre pas moins de soixante soudures …"1.

Subes poursuit "… C'est en étudiant les modèles anciens qui lui étaient confiés et en s'appliquant à les reproduire que Boulanger put conquérir le titre qu'il se donnait de " sculpteur sur fer ".
Pour cela, afin de réaliser des personnages et des dragons semblables à ses modèles il dut apprendre à refouler en bout, à modeler le fer au marteau, à utiliser à chaud le ciseau …." puis, à la page 27, il fait le lien entre les deux virtuoses du fer dont il est le fils spirituel pour l'un et le disciple pour l'autre " …Les créations originales d'Émile Robert, ses chimères, ses têtes de dragons doivent beaucoup à l'exemple de Boulanger sculpteur sur fer et aux modèles que celui-ci réalisa à l'imitation de l'art gothique… " 1(L'œuvre du ferronnier Pierre-François Marie Boulanger 1813-1891 (sculpteur sur fer), Texte de Raymond Subes, Préface de Maurice Genevoix, Imprimerie du Compagnonnage, Paris, 1961)

- Buyers can ask to be delivered via Poste-Collissimo: shipping cost will be added to the invoice amount. Or via their personal FEDEX, UPS, DHL account. Packaging can be charge.

- Lots can be send in Paris, 9th arrondissement, 3 Cité Rougemont, for 30 € incl. VAT per carton, large painting or little piece de furniture; 80 € incl. VAT for larger item. Office opens on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (10:30 am to 01:00 pm / 02:00 to 05:00 pm), and Fridays (Wednesdays (10:30 am to 01:00 pm / 02:00 to 06:00 pm). Buyers should then pick within 4 weeks. Piece furniture should be picked up the date it's delivered in the office: it can't be stored.

If buyers do not collect their purchases within 5 weeks after the auction sale, they will be charge 10€ per day.
