Description

Pier Augusto Breccia (Italian, b. 1943), "Memories," color etching on paper, inscribed lower left "14/90 Memories" and signed lower right "Breccia 1986," Arras Gallery label to the verso, measures 27x19.5 inches to the plate mark, overall 38x29 framed. CONDITION: Good, some foxing in lower margins, slight matt burn at top. Breccia was a successful cardiac surgeon until 1985 when he turned to art full time and has earned an international reputation as an artist. He has had 60 onemanshows around the world and had retrospectives in Italy at the Palazzo dei Papi (Viterbo 1997), Palazzo dei Sette (Orvieto 2000 and 2007), Museo del Vittoriano (Roma 2003), Museo di Palazzo Ziino (Palermo 2004), Italian Cultural Institute (Bruxelles 2004), Archivio di Stato (Firenze 2005), Museo di Palazzo Venezia (Roma 2007).
