Description

Pier Augusto Breccia (Italian, b. 1943), "Memories," color etching on paper, inscribed lower left "14/90 Memories" and signed lower right "Breccia 1986," Arras Gallery label to the verso, measures 27x19.5 inches to the plate mark, overall 38x29 framed. CONDITION: Good, some foxing in lower margins, slight matt burn at top. Breccia was a successful cardiac surgeon until 1985 when he turned to art full time and has earned an international reputation as an artist. He has had 60 one–man–shows around the world and had retrospectives in Italy at the Palazzo dei Papi (Viterbo –1997), Palazzo dei Sette (Orvieto– 2000 and 2007), Museo del Vittoriano (Roma – 2003), Museo di Palazzo Ziino (Palermo– 2004), Italian Cultural Institute (Bruxelles – 2004), Archivio di Stato (Firenze – 2005), Museo di Palazzo Venezia (Roma – 2007).
